In this series we’re spotlighting a different MWM team member each month so you can get to know the team a little better.
Say hello to Accountant, Emma Sullivan…
“MWM is not just an accounting firm, they provide an unparalleled service to their clients. There is an opportunity to develop a great working relationship between the client and the team that manages their files, which creates an inspirational environment to work in.”
Tell us a bit about your role Emma?
My role at MWM is in the capacity of an accountant. I form part of the team that helps our clients meet their compliance and business development needs.
My role involves the preparation and analysis of clients’ financial reports to assist with the management of their lodgement and compliance needs.
However, as a firm we are very hands on with our clients, which means I am also here to liaise with clients on the day-to-day management of their businesses and to help them reach their business goals.
This includes a range of services, from assisting with record keeping and software integration, to managing clients’ compliance requirements with other organisations, such as the Queensland Building and Construction Commission or the Office of State Revenue.
What about when you’re not at work – what are your hobbies and interests?
I grew up in Lennox Head – in northern NSW – and my family is still down there.
I like to get back that way as often as possible to spend time with family and friends relaxing by the pool, going to the beach or to Tea Tree Lake, or even playing board games.
My father-in-law runs a beautiful little eco retreat on the banks of the Clarence River. So if I’m not in Lennox Head, you will often find me visiting his place, catching up with friends in the area, or upon his boat with a fishing rod in hand.
In saying all of this, my husband has recently relocated from the Gold Coast to Airlie Beach to assist with the insurance works from Cyclone Debbie.
So my hobbies over the next 12-18 months will include weekend trips to Airlie Beach and exploring the Whitsunday area, hopefully with some fishing and trips to the Great Barrier Reef included.
Emma, what’s the best part about working at MWM?
I’ve really enjoyed how my role at MWM has developed over the past five years, and the opportunity it has given me to form close business relationships with my clients.
It is empowering to be able to simplify the often complex compliance world for our clients so that they can focus on what they do best.
