In this series we’re spotlighting a different MWM team member each month, so you can get to know the team a little better. Say hello to Client Manager, Hayley Jaram.
“MWM is very people focused. The company provides exceptional training and growth for employees. MWM has a different approach to other firms – it’s about thriving through delivery of timely and quality advice, and exceeding client expectations.”
Tell us a bit about your role…
As a Client Manager, my position involves the mentoring of staff and heading a team of forward-thinking accountants. Our aim is to achieve the best outcomes for clients, while offering a superior service.
The role also involves a high-level of interaction and responsibility with clients in the day to day running of their business, whilst ensuring their goals and compliance needs are met.
What about when you’re not at work – what are your hobbies and interests?
My home life is very busy and enjoyable as we have recently expanded our family with a new daughter.
My 3 children keep me pretty busy, but I do enjoy a night out with the ladies or watching a movie when I have a free moment to myself.
What do you enjoy the most about working at MWM?
The best part about working at MWM for me is that I enjoy what I do and I love being part of a team of like-minded individuals, who are working collectively to achieve positive results in close partnership with our clients.
What’s biggest challenge you’ve faced and how did you overcome it?
In life, my biggest challenge so far would definitely be losing my brother. Although it is coming up to five years since he passed, it still feels like yesterday.
I’m not sure I will ever overcome it, but I am a stronger, better person since. His passing was far before his time and provides a constant reminder – tomorrow is not a given, so treasure the here and now and the people you love. Treat people with kindness, you never know what challenges they currently face!
What book / tv show / album are you reading/watching/listening to at the moment and why do you like it?
Currently reading JP Delaney’s new novel ‘Believe Me’. My mother in law gifted me the ‘The Girl Before’ recently, which I really enjoyed in my downtime. I love a good thriller that challenges my mind to continue reading but is quite easy to read at the same time.
Why did you become an accountant?
Growing up I was always good with numbers, they seemed so much easier to make sense of than words!
When it became crunch time in my senior school years – I had narrowed my career down to Accounting, all about the numbers or Nursing, all about looking after others. I made a choice Nursing!
I did one year of study to become a nurse. It was a bad decision for me as I hated blood and needles!
So, I came back to what I was good at and enjoyed Accounting.
