No more AUSkeys from 31 March

  • If you currently use an AUSkey to access the ATO business portal to lodge your BAS or access the Small Business Superannuation Clearing House, you will need to set up a myGovID by 31 March 2020.

Your myGovID lets you prove who you are when using government online services. (It is not the same as your myGov account).

It is attached to an app on your mobile phone, so can go anywhere with you as it is not fixed to a desktop or device like your AUSkey.

There is plenty of information on the ATO website on how to proceed: Accessing-online-services-with-myGovID-and-RAM/

However, we have put together a few key points to help you get moving on this before your AUSkey stops working forever.

    Before you start

Make sure your details as principal authority for your business on the Australian Business Register (ABR) are up to date – especially your email address.

Have at hand two identity documents – Drivers licence, Medicare card or passport.

    Step 1:

Download the MyGovID app to your mobile device.

Enter your full name, DOB and personal email address.

Scan in your ID docs and check the information is correct.

    Step 2:

Link your business to your myGovID.

You must be listed as the business owner or associate on the ABR.

Log into Relationship Authorisation Manager (RAM):

    https://info.authorisationmanager.gov.au/

Select ‘link my business’ and follow the instructions to add your business.

If you need to authorise someone in your business to act on your behalf, this can be done through RAM.  Good news – you won’t need to authorise MWM Advisory to continue to act on your behalf – all existing authorisations will remain in place.

Although this is not something that can be delegated to your accountant, the team at MWM Advisory can certainly talk you through the pain points and help you get up and running in plenty of time for the change –  so contact our team at mwmadvisory.com.au/contact or call 07 5596 9070 to speak to your accountant.
