Congratulations, you’ve made it – now it’s time to take a breath

Over the past two years, amid the stress of the pandemic, how often have you hit the pause button and caught your breath?

We’re picking not often, if at all.

In just a few days’ time, when we take a break from business to celebrate Christmas with family and friends, we’ll be sure to take a moment to catch our breath and regain focus for the year ahead.

And so should you.

The tricky part is, not to just stop and put the brain into neutral, but to consciously reflect, and while you’re at it, give yourself a pat on the back for your good work and resilience. For your agility, belief, boldness and good instincts, all of which have helped you survive through a time of great disruption.

You’ve got this!

Put people first

Like a growing number of successful businesses, we are big believers in the power of creating a people-centric organisation, one that values the health and happiness of employees as much as the bottom line.

We aim to stay true to our mission of ‘making accounting human again’, because if we care and take care of our people, they will take care of our clients, and our clients will continue to come back.

Here at MWM, we strive to cultivate a team of leaders, people who inspire loyalty, service and understand the value of the client experience.

To do that we invest in our people’s growth and wellbeing.

Being ‘people-centric’ means we develop programs that support their success, enabling them to gain new skills, expertise, and grow their careers.

Do not underestimate the power of putting people first in your business.

Growing the Gold Coast

It’s been a tough time for businesses and employees in our region and across the country.

From lockdowns to quarantine, border patrols and working from home, you have carried on calmly even when the toilet paper supplies were getting low.

That’s because you are survivors, adaptors, and innovators, who are willing to face up to the challenges of today, tomorrow and the years ahead.

Your hard work has put the Gold Coast on the map.

Today, we a very fortunate to have such a great and growing business community, with a diversity and depth of industry not known in previous generations.

We have evolved from the white shoe brigade of the eighties and nineties, who sought fortune, fame, and infamy in equal parts, (think Christopher Skase and Alan Bond) to a progressive business community that is competitive rather than combative, supportive rather than hyperbolic.

There has been a changing of the guard, and we are proud to be part of a new generation of leaders who value their people, community and our home here in beautiful South East Queensland like never before.

The success stories of this new generation abound, but one that stands out to us is that of Gold Coast-based manufacturer of fitness equipment and apparel, (and MWM client) Alphafit.

Here’s how they describe themselves to the world:

“AlphaFit is a 100% Australian owned family business. We manufacture gear specifically made for the commercial, strength and conditioning, functional fitness and high-performance community. AlphaFit listens to our customers to develop new or improved products that are second to none in quality, design, innovation and functionality. We pride ourselves on being the biggest and most reputable supplier of Australian made equipment to the Australian fitness community.”

We think that sums up their origins, their client focus and the people centric spirit of Gold Coast Business just brilliantly.

Bring on 2022!

So, on that note, let’s all take a deep breath over the break, reflect, recharge, and be fully prepared and energised for the year ahead.

We wish you all good health, happiness, and much success in 2022!

Cheers

JNM
