Meet Michael ‘Mick’ Chittick,
Mick is a Team Leader here at MWM having started in March of this year after moving up from Albury, New South Wales, with his young family.
“MWM Advisory is where I want to be. After spending a number of years working in a ‘traditional’ accounting firm that was all about tax returns and compliance, I was really looking for a firm that was passionate about helping their clients achieve their goals.”
“I also wanted to work in an energetic firm with dynamic and motivated people. Here at MWM I have found that and more,” says Mick.
Tell us a bit about your role…
“Initially, I helped out with a number of trust audits, but have taken over as client manager on several family groups, getting 2020 accounts all squared away and starting the process of tax planning for the 2021 financial year.”
Are accountants misunderstood?
“Probably not! But to assume MWM are just ordinary accountants would be to misjudge us entirely. Rather than focus on compliance our strength comes from being commercial advisors first, which allows us to help business owners make great decisions that will assist them to get the best result they can in whatever it is they are trying to achieve.”
What is the most challenging aspect of your job?
“Coming in after certain decisions have been made and trying to deal with things in the most effective manner (either from a tax or compliance perspective) can be challenging as it would always be best if we were consulted beforehand. That being said I love solving problems and usually a satisfactory result can be achieved!”
What inspires you outside of the office?
“The things that inspire and motivate me vary from day to day, but with three young kids just watching them learn and grow is pretty inspirational.”
